We’re so happy to be back in school. We’re having lots of fun and learning new things. We are following new rules to keep us all safe during Covid. Lots of children have moved up the behavior chart and some people have even been outstanding!
We have been learning lots of Gaeilge. This week we were remembering numbers and playing biongó. We also learned the Haka Gaelach. We’d be very happy to show you.
In maths, we’ve been practicing our addition. We’re getting to be maths wizards!
We have been learning to be good and kind to others if someone is sad or hurt. We all look after each other in Room 6. We’ve been learning about how to follow Jesus by being kind and learning new prayers. We also learned about his special followers, the twelve Apostles. We can sing a song about them to remember their names.You can hear the Alive O recording here.
Ms. McDermott helped us to create a special gratitude wall in our classroom. It helps us to remember how many things we have to be happy and thankful for in our lives.
We’ve done some creative writing. Some children have written their own stories, and we all wrote about the Legend of the Giant’s Causeway. Hopefully during the year we will share some examples of our writing with you. We’re also reading The Witches by Roald Dahl. His excellent writing is a great experience to listen to.
We drew self-portraits in art. We looked at some famous self-portraits to be inspired. Some of our favourites were from different painters including Frida Kahlo and Vincent Van Gogh. You can see some of our work below.
We’re so happy to have Pauline, Ms. Natin and Ms. McDermott working with us again this year. The adults are also delighted to be working with us! We also have a new friend in our class, which is great! We wish our old friends who are in new schools well this year. We will miss them.
